No I don't make my own gingerbread. I really do not like working with gingerbread. So, I admit, I bought a kit. The house pieces are already made, and it comes with icing mix (horrible!) and candy. We went shopping and the girls picked out some candies they would like to include.
I started by making a rice krispie snack base. Which I spread out on some strong cardboard covered with tinfoil. I then made the gross icing mix and assembled the house. Once it was set, I made a batch of my own decorators icing and piped on some details. We allowed that to set and then the girls went to work!
They carefully considered each and every candy they placed on the house. Vicki had chosen gummy worms for her candy. She tried endlessly to convince us all that the worms should be all over the house. We were not convinced.
I particularly like the way they did the roof!
Then once they finished decorating the house itself, they went to working on the "yard". Now Vicki was very excited because she could now put her gummy worms in the yard.
Because Samm is a girl whose heart is overflowing with love, she had to include a heart.
The path through the yard was my lone contribution to the yard.
I just love the little "pebbles"!
And ....... VOILA!
Two very happy campers and one pretty darn cool gingerbread house!
