Wish me Rainbows
There is something in my head that has been swirling around for about a week or so now that just doesn't seem to want to come out. When I try to write it, it seems foggy. A little unclear as to what it is that I am trying to say. So I guess I can sit on that for awhile longer. At least until it comes a little more into focus. =)
The other day while playing a game with V, she observed that it was both sunny and raining outside as she gazed out the living room window. I said, "I bet you there is a rainbow." But there are so many big trees out front, we can't really see the sky. Or the light of day. Kind of gloomy in our living room, actually. But, I digress.
We went to the dining room and looked out back of the house. And there it was.
The brightest, most colorful rainbow I had ever seen. My photo does do it justice.
V was able to name each color correctly and the cool thing was that we could see each color!
Definitely a bright moment on an otherwise gray and dull day.
I'm hoping for a little rainbow in my creativity also. A bright moment or two in what has otherwise been a gray and dull day...
Week...
Month...
Maybe longer.
Wish me rainbows.

Been perusing my very first blog, reading posts and comments. I had so much more to say then. LOL.

And, here is a post originally posted February 23, 2005, called the Age Old Dilemma. It gave me a giggle when I read it.

A post from eactly 3 years ago, today... Rambling Thoughts from a Highly Distracted Mind
And, here is a post originally posted February 23, 2005, called the Age Old Dilemma. It gave me a giggle when I read it.
"I was asked yesterday by the director of our Church's drama team if I would accept a role in the dramas for Easter Weekend. Of course I accepted! I would pretty much have to have limbs falling off before I would turn down an opportunity to act.
So I will be playing the role of "wife". The actor playing the role of "husband" is about 10 years older than I am. And our director wondered aloud if the audience would accept this as authentic. (You would have to read the script to truly get why the connection between husband and wife is not directly obvious)
Anyways.... it got me to thinking. UH OH> Somebody stop me.....
Why is it that men are considered to age gracefully and women just get old? A man's hair becomes salt and peppered. Women's - grey. Men become distinguished. Women used up. Why?
So obviously its a perception thing. I mean, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
But, and here is the twist of irony (I so do love some good irony).... A man reaches his sexual peak at 18ish. A women - 40ish.
Sooooooo keeping that in mind, I think I have the answer.....
Women find men more attractive as they get older because they have to."

Happy St. Patrick's Day
May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your fields now
May the rains fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hand
May God hold you in the palm of his hand
May our children and their descendants
Be the ones to find a lasting peace
May their hopes and dreams become united
May the past be left for those who hate
And until we meet again
And until we meet again
May love and trust find a way to make a stand
May love and trust find a way to make a stand
May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
May the rains fall soft upon your fields
May this world and all its wonders
Be a home to all humanity
May the people find a common purpose
May we help one another to survive
And until we meet again
And until we meet again
May Mother Earth pour her heart into our land
May Mother earth pour her heart into our land

I'm a Mean Mother
I've read this before, but it always brings a tear to my eye.
My Mom was a mean mother.
My kids think I am a mean mother.
It gives me happy, gooshy feelings inside!
Enjoy:
A letter to Ann Landers about the Meanest Mother in the world.
We had the meanest mother in the world! While the other kids on our block enjoyed candy for breakfast, we had to eat cereal. They were treated to soda pop and pizza for lunch. We were stuck with sandwiches and milk.
Our mother insisted on knowing where we were at all times.....like criminals on parole. She had to know where we were going and who we were with every time we left the house. We had orders when to be home and no excuses were acceptable. She also broke the child labor law. She mad us work! We were forced to wash dishes, make beds, cook, sew and do all the rotten jobs, like take out the trash and keep up the yard. Our mother must have stayed up nights thinking up things for us kids to do. We never got to fool around.
Ma was like a judge when it came to "facts." We had to tell everything exactly perfect.....the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. She should have been on the Supreme Court.
By the time we were teenagers our friends knew we had a very mean mother. When guys came to get Sis and me, Ma embarrassed them to death by making them come to the door. Other girls could run out to the car when they heard a horn toot, but Ma wouldn't stand for any blowing in front of our house. I forgot to mention that Ma's nuttiness nearly made old maids out of us.
As you can guess, our mother was a complete failure. None of us kids were ever arrested rioting. We had to sit at parties like squares without a blamed thing to tell.
Our brothers served in the military service and didn't burn their draft cards.
Although our mother was awfully mean, I'll have to admit we all turned out pretty well. We all seem to be in good shape physically and emotionally. We have a pretty good idea of what we want to do with our lives. I've decided if my kids think half as much of me as I think of my mother, I'll be very proud. I guess I'll be a mean mother, too.

Couture Pour Moi?
OUI!!!!
Couture for me!
It's true. I am the extremely lucky lady to win the following:
"Fashion Designer's Aja of Meikintosh Fairie and Patti of Structured Chaos are going to custom make the winner of this giveaway a couture skirt and coordinating clutch all inspired by the movie Pretty in Pink."
This giveaway was hosted by bouffe e bambini, and the giveaway post is here.
How much do I love Hanna of bouffe e bambini,
Aja of Meikintosh Fairie,
and Patti of Structured Chaos right now?
(hint)
As much as I love Pretty in Pink!!!
And that is A LOT!
Now, onto the business at hand, I have a pair of teal shoes that I love that go with absolutely nothing I own.
*fingers crossed* that they can make something that I can wear them with!
So excited.
Have I mentioned that I am excited?
