Friendship Friday 4-13-12 - Surprise!

When is the last time someone surprised you?

This is not the last time someone surprised me, but it is one of my favorites!

Having my birthday on New Years Day often means that people are tired and your birthday gets over looked.  My mom of course, never over looked my birthday when I was a child.  But, the I grew up and got married.  (Actually it's more like I got married and then grew up, but that is a whole other story.)  

My ex-husband was really bad at the birthday thing.  He tried to remember, it's just that he had never really been into birthdays.   So one year, we were at a friends for a New Years Eve Party.  When midnight rolled around, everyone cheered, hugged and celebrated the New Year.  Then, to my surprise came my friends, holding a birthday cake and everyone started singing Happy Birthday.  That was my very midnight surprise birthday party.  

Over the years, other friends have surprised me this way as well, and it is always a surprise!  I have several good memories of midnight birthday cakes with good friends now.  

I am also happy to say that Darin is quite good at the birthday thing.  He always tries to do something to make me feel special on my birthday, whether it be the midnight surprise cake, or cooking me a nice dinner.  One year he attempted to make tiramisu for my birthday.  We still laugh about how awful it was.

Now, for the most recent surprise...  my eldest daughter likes to drop in for surprise visits every now and then and that ALWAYS make my heart happy.

For me, that is a bit of a loaded question.  I had wanted to be so many different things at different times of my childhood.  So where to begin...

When I was very young, I wanted to be a singer, dancer and actress.  Then, when I was in about third grade,  I added that I wanted to be a nurse for animals.  (side note: yes, I know that is not what they are called, but that is what I wrote in my memory book as a child)    Of course, I still also wanted to be a singer, dancer and actress.

Before I started Blessdom, I had a blog called "Legacy".  I had maintained that blog for about 5 years.  

My favorite post is from that blog.  It's called, "Excuse Me, I Don't Want to Go"

It was a reflective post about my struggles with loneliness and depression.

It's always been one of my favorites mostly for the way my thoughts flowed that day.  It just felt like some of my best writing.

Waaaahhhh

Blogger is being a jerk glitchy.
I just spent 40 minutes doing this long post about inspiration for my home. 

 It showed it auto-saving. But when I tried to publish, 

*poof* 

it was gone. 

I looked in my drafts, only the first few lines were there. =( 

Well, another time perhaps.

 For now I have other things to do.

Share something unique about your blog!

 

 What is most unique about my blog, at least I think, is that it really is a reflection of me.  Those who know me in 3d life would probably say that I project myself pretty accurately on my blog.  I don't have a blog persona, per sai.  It's just me.  The general mood and feel of my blog evolves and changes as I do.  Over the years, my blog has had many transformations, (you can check out my first blog, Legacy, if you like)  but what hasn't changed is that it is pure me.  I hope this is true.  It is what I want.  =)

Well, it's Friday again. I had hoped to have written a couple more posts this week, but considering how busy of a week I have had, I will have to settle for the one. 

But it's Friday!  So welcome here.  Have a seat and stay awhile.

I am participating in Friendship Friday over at Create With Joy.  She has asked the question, "What has inspired you most this week?"

I have two answers.

1.  I have discovered Pinterest this week.  Lord help me, is it addictive.  But it IS very inspiring.  Pinning things and creating boards of things I love, has reminded me about things I love.  Some forgotten things, including my love of blogging!  I have found new recipes to try and awesome storage and organization ideas for my home.  If you would like to follow me on Pinterest, click here ---->  Shari's Pinterst
