Forgotten Jambalaya

I recently bought myself a copy of Taste of Home's Most Requested Recipes, and although many recipes caught my eye, this one stopped me in my tracks.   Jambalaya slow cooked in the crock pot?  Yes please!

It turned out every bit as good and the recipe promised.

Old Fashioned Apple Crisp

Serve still warm with some creamy vanilla ice cream...  oh my.

Note:  For best flavor, use a variety of apples.  Crisp textures work best. The tartness of Granny Smith apples combined with the wonderful flavor of the Honeycrisp is always a winning combination!

2/3 cup flour
2/3 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup brown sugar
cinnamon and nutmeg to taste
1/2 cup soft butter
6/7 med apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1  tbsp sugar
1  tsp cinnamon

You Say I've Already Grown Up?

It's friendship Friday and I have the honor of being featured as the friend of the week over on Create With Joy's blog.  I'm so excited to be featured!!

Friendship Friday at Create With Joy
Question Of The Week
Think Back To Your Childhood.
What Are Some Of The Things You Wanted To Be
When You Grew Up?
Did You Ever Accomplish Any Of Them?
Why Or Why Not?

For me, that is a bit of a loaded question.  I had wanted to be so many different things at different times of my childhood.  So where to begin...

When I was very young, I wanted to be a singer, dancer and actress.  Then, when I was in about third grade,  I added that I wanted to be a nurse for animals.  (side note: yes, I know that is not what they are called, but that is what I wrote in my memory book as a child)    Of course, I still also wanted to be a singer, dancer and actress.
