As a performer, an appreciative audience makes all the hard work worth it. And, let me tell you, that when it comes to wonderful audiences, there are none more gracious than seniors.
Now, don't get me wrong, performing at weddings, private parties and haflas are a lot of fun!
As a belly dancer who performs with a troupe called the Zahara Belly Dancers, I have the most fun dancing for seniors. It is always an honor to perform with my troupe mate and teacher, Annyse, but there is no higher honor than performing for the lovely senior audiences.
Oh sure, there are moments when you look into the crowd to engage with your audience and find someone napping, but they have paid their dues and deserve a nap now and again, right?!?
But the smiles!
Oh! The smiles!!!
What a blessing!
